25th February 2010

The twelfth Weldmar Hospicecare Trust charity shop opened in West Street, Wareham on 25th February.

The opening ceremony was performed by Trust Vice President Sir John James KCVO CBE. Also present were the Mayor of Wareham,  Mrs Audrey Tighe, her Escort, Mr Nelson Townsend, the Trust Chairman, Dr Geoffrey Guy, Vice Chairman, Col Nat Parmley, Mrs Sue Davies, Council Chair,  Finance Director, Sheena Keep, Director of Retail Operations, Valerie Burnham and the new Shop Manager, Vanessa Burton and the opening team.

Valerie Burnham and Vanessa Burton were delighted with the support they received at the opening and were pleased to receive so many compliments about the shop. It was a rainy day but it did not deter keen customers from seeking out bargains.

Mrs Burnham commented “We have waited a long time to find a location in Wareham. The Trust has a great deal of support around Wareham and it is looking forward to the continued loyalty of the community to supply donated goods to sell and for volunteers to help in the shop”

If interested in volunteering in the Wareham shop please call Vanessa Burton on 01929  555283. Donations are always gratefully accepted in the shop.

The Trust continues to expand its number of charity shops. Two more shops will be opening soon in Shaftesbury and Beaminster.
