Palliative care for healthcare assistants

Days: 2 hours for 7 weeks • Fee: £140
For healthcare assistants and non-qualified carers, giving some insight into how patients may be feeling and the care they may need.

Palliative care study day for Nursing Home Staff - part one

Days: 1 • Fee: £50
Covering the principles of palliative care, pain control, diagnosing dying and the use of the Liverpool Care Pathway.

Palliative care study day for Nursing Home Staff - part two

Days: 1 • Fee: £50
Covering communication skills, terminal restlessness, dignity in care and the use of the Liverpool Care Pathway.

Symptom control study day

Days: 1 • Fee: £50
The main symptoms experienced at end of life are – pain, nausea and vomiting, breathlessness, terminal restlessness and constipation. Aimed at all healthcare professionals

Syringe driver training

Days: Half • Fee: £25
A workshop explaining the reasons to use a syringe driver, practical training on setting up a syringe driver and common drugs used.

Bereavement and loss

Days: Half day for 8 weeks • Fee: £160
Aimed at developing critical insight and self-awareness, to confidently and competently care in situations of bereavement and loss

Multi-professional approaches to palliative care

Days: 1 • Fee: £50
Open to everyone working in palliative care. Covering topics such as dignity, assessment, management of dyspraxia, resilience, rehabilitation and communication. All provided by a multi-professional team.

Psychological assessment training

Days: 1 • Fee: £50
Covering the skills required to assess for psychological distress, based on the Salisbury Model.

Advance care planning (ACP)

Days: 1 • Fee: Free
Interactive workshop for GPs, District Nurses, Community Matrons, Specialist Nurses, Senior Staff in Care Homes and socail care. Exploring the issues related to ACP. 5 CPD points.

Principles in End of Life Care (Short Course)

Days: 4 half days • Fee: Freel
This course aims to provide insight into and knowledge of the skills required to give good end of life care.

Breaking bad news

Days: Half day • Fee: £25
A two and a half hour experiential workshop which includes a model for breaking bad news.

Communication Skills Training (Intermediate Level)

Days: 1 • Fee: £50
 A one day interactive workshop developing personal communication skills. Experiential learning will be used to help practitioners identify challenging communication issues from practice and gain confidence in responding appropriately.
