Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy aims to maximise your independence and enable you to remain as active as possible for the duration of your illness.

If you would like to discuss the physiotherapy available, please contact the physiotherapy department at Joseph Weld Hospice on 01305 215300.

What can physiotherapy treat?

Physiotherapy can be helpful in managing symptoms such as:

  • breathlessness
  • pain
  • fatigue
  • muscle weakness
  • reduced mobility

What should I expect during a treatment?

The physiotherapist will ask you questions about your condition, what you want to achieve and what is important to you. They will use this to tailor your assessment and treatment to your personal goals and needs.

What treatments might I be offered?

Treatments offered include:

  • advice on exercise and activity
  • prescription of specific exercises
  • breathing and other techniques to help breathlessness
  • acupuncture
  • TENS
  • anxiety management
  • aids to help with mobility
  • advice on pacing your daily activities
  • physical rehabilitation

Your physiotherapist will help you chose the best treatment for your needs.

You may need one session or several; these can be in our hospice, day hospices or at home.

All of our physiotherapists are qualified and experienced members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and registered with the Health Professions Council.
