Buckham Fair

Come along to the Buckham Fair Pony and Dog Show and join in the fun, with lots to see and do.

Admission £2 for adults - children free

The Pony Show starts at 10am with four rings running throughout the day:

  • Showjumping
  • Gymkhana Games
  • Show Ponies
  • Novelty Classes including Most Beautiful Tail and Thelwell Lookalike.

They are open to any rider under the age of 16.


The Dog Show starts at 12.30pm with seven rings:

  • Pedigree Class
  • ‘Dog of the Day’ which is the Sponsors Class (judged by ‘Dorset Magazine Sponsors’)
  • Novelty Class including Waggiest Tail, Best Trick and Best Rescue Dog all judged by Martin Clunes
  • Three Obedience Rings
  • Agility Display
  • Temptation Alley at 50p a time.

We have been approached by the Dorset Police who are very kindly going to be putting on a Police Dog Display at 12.30pm on the dog field which will be well worth watching and there will also be Sealyham Terriers and Alpacas on display in pens.


As well as having the Dog and Pony Show there is also Atmosfair, a large fun fair whose rides will include:

  • Dodgems            
  • Big Wheel
  • Adult Chair-o-planes
  • Helter Skelter
  • Hook a duck round stall
  • Coconut shy
  • Kiddies Chair-o-planes
  • Kiddies jet ride
  • Inflatable bouncy dome

There will also be a giant Wurlitzer playing at the entrance, a Bucking Bronco, Laser Clay shooting and a large Bungee Trampoline.

The Fair Field will also be displaying up to 20 vintage cars and we have 40 vintage scooters arriving at 4.30pm for a drive-by and to present us with a cheque from their own fundraising day.

There will be a number of local producers in the Food Piazza including:

The Hardy Players will be entertaining the crowds, and we will have a raffle running throughout the day.

The Domestic Appliance Centre in Dorchester have very kindly supplied us with a large LG 11kg Washing Machine that will be in the raffled on the day.

There will be a number of local stallholders selling their products including:

There will be alpacas to look at and miniature Shetland rides for small children running throughout the day.

The main sponsor for the day is Battens Solicitors and there are many generous local families and businesses who also sponsor the event

As well as being a great day out for all the family all the proceeds from the day will be donated to Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.
