Fundraising volunteer
Fundraising throughout the county is supported in many different ways by volunteers. Our very varied fundraising events require the help of volunteers working alongside our fundraising team. This includes events such as our annual Summer Fete, Christmas Fayre, etc., helping with the sale of items, running a tombola or raffle, and serving refreshments. Help is also required with mail shots and administration tasks.
Our Friends Groups and many other supporters organise their own events and may require additional help from volunteers, so there is always a very varied list of tasks which people can assist us with.
Here are just some of comments by our volunteers explaining why they enjoy volunteering for us:
“Being a volunteer for the hospice helps me to feel wanted and gives me a purpose of giving something back and a feeling of well being. It’s nice meeting people, making new friends especially as one gets older, to get out and do your little bit, knowing you’re helping someone or a family less fortunate. One doesn’t know what the future holds, but we do know with volunteers doing their bit the hospice and Trust is there free for everyone. It’s something I really enjoy doing.”
“Having been a carer for ten years it was nice to get out and meet people again. I get great pleasure in going round collecting pods for the hospice seeing other people doing there bit, also to travel around the beautiful Dorset, by doing this I am giving back something to the hospice for looking after my dear wife.”
