Weldmar Hospicecare Trust has vacancies for a number of volunteer posts throughout the organisation.

Carer Support, Joseph Weld Hospice, Dorchester

This post requires someone to offer support at the Carers' Support Group which meets from 11am to 1pm alternate Tuesdays. A regular commitment is required and duties include meet and greet, serve refreshments, interact with the carers and advise of any concerns identified, co-facilitator of the group, clear away afterwards. To also offer telephone support to carers as directed.

Chiropodist, Trimar Hospice, Weymouth

This post requires someone to offer chiropody to daycare patients at the hospice. Relevant professional qualification and experience is essential. A regular commitment of two hours is needed.

Complementary Health Practitioners (all areas north, south and west Dorset)

These posts require two years post-qualification experience in massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, bowen therapy or yoga. You must hold professional insurance and be a member of a professional association. The work will involve seeing patients, carers and the bereaved in their own homes, at practitioner clinics, or Weldmar out-patient settings. Clinical supervision and support is provided.

Drivers in the Blandford, Shaftesbury, Sherborne & Sturminster Newton areas

We need volunteer drivers to assist us with transporting patients and carers to medical appointments and support groups. Reimbursement of mileage expenses is available.

Drivers in the Bridport & Dorchester areas

We need volunteer drivers to assist us with transporting patients to our day hospice at Joseph Weld Hospice on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Occasional drivers also required to transport patients and carers to medical appointments and support groups. Reimbursement of mileage expenses is available.

Drivers in the Portland & Weymouth areas

We need volunteer drivers to assist us with transporting patients to our day hospice at Trimar Hospice on a Monday, Thursday and Friday. Occasional drivers also required to transport patients and carers to medical appointments and support groups. Reimbursement of mileage expenses is available.

Flower Arranger, Joseph Weld Hospice, Dorchester

We are looking for volunteers to work with flower arrangements donated to the Hospice to recreate flower displays to enhance both public and patient areas where appropriate.

A regular commitment is needed to fulfil a rota for half a week as follows:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or
  • Thursday, Friday

Repeated every month, depending on how many volunteers are on the rota.

Fundraising

Fundraising throughout the county is supported in many different ways by volunteers. Our very varied fundraising events require the help of volunteers working alongside our fundraising team.

In particular, we are looking for volunteers to help with the stewarding and registration of our Midnight Walk on 20th July in Weymouth.

Hairdresser, Trimar Hospice, Weymouth

This post requires someone to offer hairdressing to daycare patients at the hospice. A regular commitment of two hours is needed every Thursday.

Horticultural Therapy Volunteer, Joseph Weld Hospice, Dorchester

This post requires someone to provide social and therapeutic horticulture to promote the health and well-being of our patients in the in-patient unit and day care service either individually or as part of a team. A regular commitment is required, and you will be responsible for designing and implementing programs for all ages and disabilities, or just offer tasks to do on the day.

Magistrates Court Tea Bar, Weymouth

We need volunteers to help sell refreshments to solicitors and visitors. A regular commitment is needed to fulfill a rota. We have a specific need for:

8.45am to 11am once a week

Receptionist, Joseph Weld Hospice, Dorchester

This post requires someone with experience in reception work and good people skills. They need to be able to cope with a variety of demands at the main desk. A regular commitment is needed to fulfil a rota. We have a specific need for:

  • 10am to 1pm Sunday
  • 4pm to 6pm Saturday, Sunday

Retail

We are looking for more volunteers as follows:

In our charity shops any days including Saturday, with Sunday trading in some shops

At our furniture outlets any days including Saturday

In addition, we have new shops coming soon in Portland and Wimborne, as well as a new furniture outlet in Shaftesbury, all requiring volunteers to help.

Ward Duties, Joseph Weld Hospice, Dorchester

We are looking for volunteers to help serve meals to in-patients at the hospice. A regular commitment is needed to fulfill a rota. We have a specific need for:

  • 8.15am to 10am Wednesday, Sunday
  • 12 noon to 2pm Friday, Saturday
  • 3pm to 4.15pm Alternate Friday, Saturday, Sunday
  • 5.15pm to 7pm Saturday

Warehouse, Granby Industrial Estate, Weymouth

We are looking for more volunteers to help with sorting, tidying, occasional moving of bulky items, customer service and refurbishing. We also need volunteer drivers to assist with deliveries. A regular commitment of four hours is needed.
