The shops could not actually open their doors each day without them. So why not consider offering your services in your local shop? Introduce yourself to the Manager or Deputy and she will be able to give a general overview of how our shops operate.

The duties can vary - depending on your talents - but most of all you will be part of a team. Duties can be anything from taking cash, sorting, tidying, helping with displays the list is endless.
We also really need help with our eBay Office. From photography, to researching the items on the web, to listing, to packaging up the sold items - there's a great deal that you could help us with. Just use our form to contact us and we'll get right back to you.
If you are nervous just come for an hour of two just to see if you like it. We do not bite and we're confident you would enjoy it - particularly as there is always a biscuit and a cup of tea as a reward.
We make sure we look after you, not letting you do anything that may put you at risk; the Management team will carefully guide you through all procedures during your induction.
So, can you help? Weekend work can be extremely valuable Saturdays and in some cases Sundays (holiday areas).

A volunteer's story
Carol has been a volunteer for one year. She gives 8 hours a week. Carol comes from a nursing background and has previous volunteer experience at the sea life centre.
When asked why she came to Weldmar as a volunteer, Carol said “I wanted to do something worthwhile".
Carol had heard from a friend about the good work the hospice carries out, and the need for volunteers. Carol found out through an informal chat with the Weymouth manager that the hours are very flexible and can fit in around Carol’s spare time.
Carol says Weldmar allow their volunteers to use the skills they have and learn new ones. Carol now works in all areas of the shop, till, stock sorting, pricing and stock replenishment.
When asked if she get anything back from volunteering, Carol said "It has given me a few hours in the week when I do something I want to do. I feel we the volunteers are really appreciated by the managers that we work for, they rely on us and I am proud of the shops I work in. You know you are doing some good, what your doing is worthwhile, and everything that is donated is sold or recycled in some way".
I also feel I offer a service to the community, people often come in for a chat , sometimes to exchange pleasantries or have a moan about every day things, but mainly to have someone to listen or comfort them".
