A treasure trove of celebrity autographs in the Weldmar eBay shop
We’ve been given an extensive collection of sporting and celebrity signatures to sell and raise money
Weldmar Hospicecare’s eBay shop has been relaunched, and the autographs of some top sports stars and celebrities are up for grabs.
Currently on sale are the signatures of 1966 World Cup winner George Cohen, cricket legend Sir Ian Botham and umpire Dickie Bird, and football greats Peter Schmichael, Peter Osgood, and Michael Owen.
Local football fans are also in for a treat, with a number of signed team sheets and photos spanning the last twenty years at AFC Bournemouth, charting their rise from the bottom of the football league to the Premier League.
Pictured is a signed photo of Bournemouth and England footballer Callum Wilson, currently for sale in our eBay shop.
These are all being sold in aid of Weldmar Hospicecare, thanks to our Finance Director, Dean Daniels, who has been an avid autograph hunter.
“It started with AFC Bournemouth”, says Dean. “I’d go and watch the players at the training ground and get their autographs. I used to create my own teamsheets, print them off, and get them signed, which seemed better than a traditional autograph book. As a cricket fan, I also managed to get a few when I was a steward at Hampshire, and then I would start writing off to celebrities to get theirs.”
Dean is particularly proud of an autograph of Sachin Tendulker, the former India captain who holds the record for the most runs scored in Test cricket.
So why is Dean donating them for sale? “There are a couple of reasons, firstly the fact that it will help raise some money for Weldmar, knowing the current challenges we face. And I’d like to see them give someone else some joy, instead of gathering dust in my files!”
More autographs will be added over the coming weeks, including David Jason, Tom Jones, Paloma Faith, and even the late Vera Lynn.
