Angling Centre collection nets more than a thousand pounds in memory of Stephen
The collection was made in memory of Stephen Marley.
Our thanks go to the team at the Angling Centre in West Bay, who have collected more than one thousand pounds for Weldmar Hospicecare.
The family business opened in 1992, set up by Stephen and Tracey Marley. Stephen was a well known local figure, having been born and bred in the Bridport area, and was known for his love of fishing and art.
Sadly, Stephen passed away at our in-patient unit in Dorchester in February 2013, after being cared for by Weldmar Hospicecare.
The Angling Centre remains a family business, now being run by Stephen and Tracey’s children Tom and Alania, and eight year old grand-daughter Georgia often lends a hand too! Long serving shop manager Martin is still very much part of the team.
They decided to run a collection for Weldmar, in memory of Stephen, in a large bottle that was specially designed by one of their regular customers. Tom says, “Along with donations, we also put any tips we get into that bottle, given by our fantastic, generous customers, both local and visitors”.
The collection raised £1,055. Tracey says the family were overwhelmed by that amount. “Many of our customers have become good friends, who have supported us since Stephen sadly passed away. We are so grateful that it is going to such a good cause”.
