Catering Team

Our dedicated catering team has a flexible approach to meals, taking into account special dietary requirements, likes and dislikes. The Catering Team is made up of a Chef Manager, Specialists Chefs, Chefs and Kitchen Assistants. They provide services for Patients and the Orangery Restaurant at the IPU, for Day Services, and for Weldmar events.

On arrival, patients receive a visit from the Specialist Chef, who will work with them to develop a plan tailored to the patients individual requirements. The team are available from 8am to 4pm, and are happy to meet with patients as often as needed. Typically, the Specialist Chef will conduct their rounds each day between 10am and 11:30am to review the daily menu options and plan suitable, well balanced meals for the day.

Our menu offers a range of meals which change everyday. At breakfast, patients can enjoy a variety options such as:

At lunch and supper, our Catering Team offers a three course meal. Patients can decided how much or how little they would like – anything from a single starter item to the full three courses!

Patients can chose a Soup of the Day, Bread Roll and/or Fruit Juice as their starter at both lunch and supper.

At lunch time, we offer new Main and Vegetarian Specials everyday! The team can also prepare Jacket Potatoes, Ploughman’s Salads (with a choice of Meat or Cheese) or Chunky Chips with a Dip. If patients fancy a sweet treat to round off their meal, there is always a special Dessert of the Day on offer! We also offer Jelly, Ice Cream and Sorbet if patients would prefer a lighter dessert.

At supper, there is always a Quiche or Pie of the Day, as well as a wide range of other delicious meals for patients to enjoy such as:

For dessert, patients can enjoy Sponge with Custard, Eton Mess or a Fresh Fruit Salad, as well as Jelly, Ice Cream and Sorbet. We also offer Cheese and Biscuits if this would be preferred over a dessert.

There is a snack menu available throughout the day and evening, which includes sandwiches, pastries and homemade milkshakes and smoothies!

We have facilities for family and friends to prepare hot and cold drinks, and a fridge with a variety of snacks to purchase from reception. Food can be brought into the hospice and stored in the fridge in the Visitors Kitchen.


We have been given a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 (Very Good)
