Celebrities feature in ‘Dorchester at Christmas’ film, helping to raise money for Weldmar

Martin Clunes is one of the contributors to this special local project

Weldmar Hospicecare is to benefit from a special local video project organised by Dorchester Town Council and Dorchester Choral Society.

They have been working together to help bring the magic of Christmas to the town, in a year where we all know that Christmas will not quite be the same as usual.

Through a combination of traditional carols, music, readings and images from the town and surrounding areas, they are making a film to bring the community together to celebrate Christmas in a different way.

Long standing Weldmar supporters Martin Clunes and Lord Julian Fellowes, along with journalist Kate Adie, local actor and storyteller Tim Laycock, and actress Dame Harriet Walter have all contributed to the film.

All Dorchester schools have taken part, alongside local musicians and performers, and it has been financially supported by businesses and organisations in the town.

The film is being given for free to those that need it most: the hospital, hospice, care homes and to others who may be isolated.

But the film – as a DVD – will also be available (minimum £5 donation) from 17th December in the Post Office in Trinity Street, in Gould’s (Homewares) in South Street and in the Poundbury Garden Centre to raise money for local charities including Weldmar Hospicecare.  The DVDs will make wonderful stocking fillers, so please buy a copy if you can.

Or simply make a donation via https://www.give.net/DorchesteratChristmas2020 and watch it here:
