Donate and dash … we launch Dorset’s first charity shop window donation point
Make a donation in seconds at our charity shop in Dorchester
Weldmar Hospicecare has launched the first charity shop window contactless donation point in Dorset.
It allows anyone to make an immediate donation to Weldmar Hospicecare, day or night, if they pass the device.
We’ve just launched a trial run with the device in our shop in Trinity Street in Dorchester, and if it’s successful, they will appear in all 26 of our charity shops and outlets in the county.
The idea is simple – just tap your debit or credit card, or smart device, on the window in front of the donation station, and you will automatically donate £3 to Weldmar Hospicecare.
Matt Smith, Director of Fundraising and Marketing for Weldmar Hospicecare, says, “Year on year we are becoming a cashless society, paying for our shopping with our contactless cards and smart devices and we have seen the effect this has had on charitable income over the last few years. Installing contactless donation devices in our shop windows provides a quick and easy way to support Weldmar Hospicecare. The money raised will enable us to continue providing outstanding end of life care to patients and their loved ones and continue to support them through one of life’s most difficult journeys. As we see the demand for our services increase, it is vital that we meet this with financial support from the community we so proudly serve.”
It costs us £18,000 a day to keep these services going.
