Easy Fundraising Ideas and Activities to support the Weldmar at Home Appeal
Our Weldmar at Home appeal is all about introducing a much needed 24 at home service to our community – the community that we all live in and the same community that came together throughout the pandemic, clapping on our doorsteps, checking on our neighbours and keeping each other safe.
But as we fundraise to launch a brand new service at Weldmar Hospicecare, we need our community to donate, to put on events and activities and to continue standing by us to introduce a much needed and vital 24 care service throughout the county.
With the government roadmap now laid out, this is the perfect time to be thinking about how you could raise a few pounds with your friends, family or neighbours to help boost the Weldmar at Home appeal.
All we ask that you ensure that you are following the government guidelines at all times, that you keep you and others safe and of course, that you have fun in the process.
We can even provide you with posters and balloons for your event too. Just choose something from our list below, or create your own fundraising activity, and help us launch Weldmar at Home, providing 24 hour care for patients in the comfort of their own home, right where they want to be.
Everyone is missing the ever popular cake sales so why not offer to bake some delicious treats for your neighbours. Pop a flyer through their door detailing what is on the menu that week and then bake to order that weekend. You could even make up small afternoon tea boxes or breakfast boxes with fresh pastries! Charge a small amount or ask for donations for Weldmar Hospicecare.
Tea in the Garden
When the rule of six comes in play, why not invite some family members or friends into your garden for a delicious afternoon tea, BBQ or glass of wine and nibbles. Make sure you stick to the government restrictions, but ask for donations for Weldmar in return.
Wash and Wax
Noticed how dirty your neighbours cars are recently? The prefect opportunity to raise a bit of money for Weldmar by offering to wash their cars for them – charge extra to wax it too.
Hair today, gone tomorrow
We’re all desperate for a hair cut. Some of us never imagined sporting curls, fringes or mullets before, so why not raise a bit of cash before you have it all cut off. We can supply you with sponsor forms or set up a Justgiving page online. Cut your hair for Hospicecare!
With outdoor sports and gyms reopening in the coming months, why not set yourself a target to lose weight or get fitter. Every pound you lose could be a pound to Weldmar!
Community street party
Making sure that you are keeping within the guidelines, why not fire up the BBQ or organise a socially distanced community picnic in your front gardens, communal green or large open space. Grab the bunting, charge everyone a small fee or encourage donations. You could even organise a few fun activities such as pin the badge on the nurse. Get creative!
Produce on the pavement
Are you a home grower, own an allotment or a dab hand at preserves and chutneys? Why not pop a small table outside your house and sell your proud produce to passers-by. Ask them to pop a donation through your letterbox explaining that all funds will be donated to Weldmar Hospicecare.
Organise a quiz night, bingo or classic gameshow event either via Zoom or outdoors socially distanced. Ask people to pay an entry fee or donate £1.00 for every question they get wrong, or for the amount of numbers they were away from winning at Bingo.
The possibilities are endless and we have supplied these to get your creative juices flowing. Think about your skills or things that other people might donate to receive, be that a product or a service. If we all did just one thing to raise money for our Weldmar at Home Appeal, we will be able to introduce this vital service throughout Dorset as soon as possible.
And don’t forget to tell us about your fundraising here so we can help promote it and support you too!
If you are trying to use Justgiving or Virgin Money to make online donations or set up a fundraising page, please be aware that due to demand, there may be a delay in processing transactions.
