Fete Stories: Finding the perfect lot on the Silent Auction
You never know what treasures you might find.
Saturday’s Weldmar Hospicecare Summer Fete will go down as a real success.
The weather was glorious, TV star Martin Clunes helped attract a bumper crowd, and we boosted the charity’s coffers to the tune of £20,683, all of which will go towards the end of life care that we provide in Dorset.
For one couple in particular, a bid on a lot in the Silent Auction was not only a successful one, but a very special one.
Jeanie and Pete Chubb, from Fordington, went home with a musical porcelain doll.
“A year ago, my sister in law died here at the hospice”, explains Jeanie. “We bought it in memory of her. We’re going to name it Carol, after her, and it’ll go in the front room next to the photograph of her and I on my wedding day”.
“She was very well looked after by Weldmar. Pete came to see her here, and it means a lot to him, which is why this doll means a lot to us”.
Thank you to everyone who put in bids for the the Silent Auction lots; whether you were sucessful or not, you helped us reach an amazing total on the day.
