What does you job at Weldmar involve?
I am Chef Manager for Weldmar Hospicecare. I lead on the Catering and Nutrition for the organisation. My job involves managing the Catering Team which consists of Specialist Chefs, Chefs and Kitchen Assistants. I also work as a Specialist Chef to provide all catering needs for our patients and customers in our organisation. We also provide meals for Day services, our Staff and Visitor Restaurant and Weldmar Events.
What do you like best about your job?
I love the variety of my role. Every day is different. I also really enjoy being able to make a difference to someone’s enjoyment or ability to eat food. My role is very patient/ person focused and that’s the best bit. We look at the whole holistic approach to a person’s enjoyment of food by making sure their dietary needs are met the best way we can.
What’s your favourite thing about Dorset?
The coast line, the beaches, the walks. I live in Somerset and definitely miss the Seaside and being able to walk along the coast paths for my daily strolls.
What do you like doing in your spare time?
I have two boys that take up most of my spare time!! I love getting crafty and making things. Sewing, DIY and craft projects keep me busy!
Tell us something about you that would surprise us?
I’m a dual citizen England / Australian, which is pretty cool! My eldest son was born in Australia when we were fortunate to live in Melbourne.
Give us three words that describe you.
Creative, compassionate and friendly.

It is a great organisation to work for. I feel it’s a person centred organisation. The teams all work together to get the best outcomes for our patients. The staff are like a little community and everyone is really friendly and approachable. I have been here for 12 years now and my role evolves with the needs of the organisation and they support me to keep up with all the relevant training that is required to do my role successfully.
