How early morning bike rides during lockdown inspired Clairemarie’s calendar for Weldmar
The calendar shows some incredible sunrises over Weymouth Bay
A brand new calendar has been created by a Weldmar Hospicecare supporter. It features some stunning shots of Weymouth Bay at sunrise.
Clairemarie Saunders first started taking the photos during the first period of lockdown earlier in the year. She has selected twelve of her favourites for the calendar, in order to help raise money for the charity.
“At the time I wasn’t working due to the pandemic and found it quite difficult,” says Clairemarie, “so I started taking early morning bike rides along the seafront first thing and was struck by how beautiful the sunrises were. I ended up taking thousands of photos, and began to share them with a group on Facebook. The response was amazing, and with so much positive feedback.”
It was a friend who suggested that she might be able to sell the photos. The idea of the calendar developed from there – and doing it for a good cause.
It’s off to a good start, with Clairemarie already getting a second batch printed.
“My dad passed away in 2002, so I always dedicate a light to him with Weldmar’s Light Up A Life. Because this year has been such a difficult year, I wanted to donate the profits of this calendar to Weldmar too.”
The calendars are £10 each, plus p&p, and all proceeds, minus printing costs, will come to Weldmar Hospicecare.
