How Jo Jury supports the relatives of those in our care
“Jo has been a lifeline.”
You may not be aware that Weldmar Hospicecare’s Family Support Team has social care experts who look after the carers and relatives of those people who are in our care.
Jo Jury is our Specialist Palliative Care Social Worker. Jo will help on a wide range of aspects of a carer’s life, from practical help and support through to coping techniques and stress management.
Jo says “We offer carers a ‘safe place’ to talk about their fears and worries about the future, once their loved one is no longer with them. By providing a non-judgmental listening ear, it allows the carer to feel able to talk openly. Their fears and worries are very different from that of the patient, so it’s important they can express these.”
We spoke to someone Jo’s recently been supporting;
‘‘Jo has been amazing, she is highly gifted and trained with an exceptional skill set. It’s been lovely for me to have space to talk. Jo has been a lifeline.”
At Weldmar Hospicecare we support carers by offering practical advice and guidance, but also emotional support. We offer a safe place to be able to talk about the impact of their caring role on themselves. We are here to support carers every day, 52 weeks of the year.
