Important Covid-19 Information
Update on Covid-19 and Weldmar Hospicecare
Throughout Covid-19 we have, and continue to provide our specialist and vital end of life care and support to patients both in the community and at our Inpatient Unit in Dorchester.
All patient facing staff are routinely tested weekly for Covid-19 and on Monday 28th December, two tests came back positive. Although we believe both of these cases to be isolated incidents and that both members of staff contracted Covid-19 outside of the organisation, we are working alongside Public Health England to ensure that the impact is minimised as much as possible and to enable us to continue providing our high standards of care to everyone who needs us. Both of these members of staff are currently self isolating and as an additional safety precaution, a small number of other staff are self isolating until we receive the results from their latest Covid-19 tests. All of these members of staff feel fine and are not showing any symptoms.
We have introduced additional visitor restrictions with only one essential visitor per patient only during this period at our Inpatient Unit. Our Infection Prevention Team and Emergency Planning Group will continue to monitor these restrictions to ensure the personal safety of all of our staff, patients and their loved ones, which remains our priority.
We understand the importance of ensuring that our vital end of life care can continue and we will strive to ensure that the impact is as minimal as possible whilst following the guidance from Public Health England.
