Weldmar Hospicecare’s Job Application Guidelines
We understand that it takes time to apply for a new role, and so we’ve put together this guide to help you complete your application. The information that you give us in your application form is the only information we will use to decide if you will be invited for an interview, so it is important that you complete it thoroughly.
We suggest that you;
·Research Weldmar Hospicecare beforehand. This will help you think more widely about the work we do, how the role you are applying for fits in, and what we look for in our people.
·Read the job description to learn more about what the role involves. Pay particular attention to the Person Specification which details the relevant qualifications, knowledge, experience, skills and abilities required for the role.
·After reading the job description, carefully match your own qualifications, knowledge, experience, skills and abilities with those needed to fill the requirements of the role. Think of examples that you can use to demonstrate them.
·If you have any specific questions about the role, please contact the People Services Team or recruiting manager detailed on the advert post.
·Think about why you are applying for the role, and want to work for Weldmar Hospicecare. Weldmar’s core values are Welcoming, Caring, Adaptable, and Integrity. Think about what they mean to you, and how you demonstrate them.
·Think about who will provide a reference for you. We need two – one must be from your current or most recent employer.
The Application Form
·Firstly you tell us all about you, including your qualifications, your current employment and employment history. (You will need dates, so it is a good idea to have these to hand). This section allows you the opportunity to tell us about the work you are doing or have done in the past. Be as brief as you can, and use the ‘Applying for this post’ section later to add the details you have already planned.
·Applying for this post section is where you add the details, providing supporting statement which is an important part of your application. Remember, you should tell us what knowledge, experience, skills and abilities you have that is relevant to the job description. Always remember to specify your personal responsibilities rather than those of your department. Remember to explain how your experience relates to the role you are applying for.
·Check that you have included everything you’ve been asked for i.e. references
·Spell check and proof read your application. If possible, ask someone else to check it too.
·Ensure that your fully completed application form is submitted by the closing date on the advert.
Check you have received a reply email from firstname.lastname@example.org confirming receipt of your application. If not feel free to call the recruiting manager on the advert to confirm.
·The Interview Panel will shortlist all applications by scoring the contents of the application against criteria taken from the job description and person specification, so that it is fair and consistent for all applicants.
·If you are shortlisted, our People Service Team will contact you by phone or email. Further details of the interview process will be given at this time.
·All candidates who have applied for the role will be contacted by phone or email, to inform them once a decision has been reached. This will usually be within 2-4 days after interview.
