Coronavirus
The symptoms of Covid-19 (Coronavirus) may be more severe in people with weakened immune systems, older people and those with long term conditions such as diabetes, cancer and chronic lung disease.
At Weldmar Hospicecare, the wellbeing of the people we support, hospice visitors, staff and volunteers is our first priority and that’s why we are following advice and guidance issued by the World Health Organisation and the UK Government.
We appreciate your support in following the current guidance when visiting any of our sites:
- For the protection of patients within our Inpatient Unit we are restricting access to the building to essential visitors only. Do not enter the building if you have a cough, high temperature or breathlessness
- If you have returned from specified areas of risk in the past 14 days please follow returning travellers advice. We advise that you do not visit our sites 14 days after visiting these countries. You can see an up to date list of high risk areas and get the latest advice here.
- Frequently clean your hands by using alcohol based hand rub (which are available at all our patient sites) or soap and water
- When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with a flexed elbow or tissue – throw the tissue away immediately and wash your hands
Thank you in advance for your co-operation and if you are unsure whether you should visit or not, please contact us on one of our direct numbers.
Our Inpatient Unit is Weldmar Hospicecare’s 14 bedded hospice in Dorchester. It is also the base for Weldmar’s Central Clinical Team.
Day services are offered to our patients at the Inpatient Unit on Tuesdays between 10am and 3pm.
The video tour of our Inpatient Unit in Dorchester allows our patients, family members or friends to see what our building is like before visiting us, and we also have some useful information about visiting patients in the hospice.
