Magna Housing heroes start the transformation of our new home
They’ve been helping us with the first steps towards renovating the former school and Horizon building.
A team from Magna Housing have been hard at work as renovations begin on Weldmar Hospicecare’s new home in Weymouth.
We’re moving our Weymouth and Portland Day Services, and office operations such as Finance, Fundraising, and Marketing, to the former school building in Cromwell Road, which will be known as Trimar House.
Magna Housing have spent the day ripping out kitchenettes, toilets, pipework, and cupboards in the first steps of the transformation of the building.
They have also demolished some interior walls, removed railings and the safety surfacing in what was the children’s playground, and removed and disposed of asbestos.
It’s estimated their hard work will save us almost £10,000, which can instead go towards specialist community care, and supporting families and carers with our day service provision in the area.
Our thanks also go to Portland Stone for providing skips free of charge.
Becky Alford is Maintenance Supervisor for Magna Housing, and tells us more about what they’ve been doing – and how the managers are being told what to do:
Thank you Magna Housing!
