New Memory Trees prove a success at our Summer Fete
It was an opportunity for visitors to remember their loved ones.
All the usual popular stalls, games, entertainment, and food and drink were to be found at our Summer Fete last Saturday. This year, however, saw something different from the Weldmar Family Support team with new Memory Trees.
For many people, a visit to the Weldmar Hospice Summer Fete is the first time they have returned to the hospice since the loss of a loved one.
Staff and volunteers were on hand to talk to visitors, who could write a message on a colourful ribbon and hand it on one of the trees.
Kate Hyde is Weldmar’s Children and Young People’s Bereavement Practitioner, and said, “It’s been really nice. A lot of people have just come with their own thoughts, they’ve taken a moment, taken a ribbon and written a message and put it on the new Memory Trees, but others have wanted to sit and have the chance to talk”.
