Original Daphne Roscoe artwork for sale at Weldmar’s St Thomas Street shop

< BACK TO NEWSWith so many people giving generously to Weldmar Hospicecare’s charity shops after lockdown clearouts, we knew we were going to find some rarities and treasures hidden in the boxes and bags that have come through the doors.
An eagle eyed member of the team at our shop on St Thomas Street in Weymouth spotted an interesting piece of art, and it turns out to be an original.
It’s a painting from 1977, by Daphne Roscoe, of the schooner Sir Winston Churchill, which was docked in Weymouth.
The vessel was built in 1966, and named after the wartime Prime Minster, who had died the year before. It served as a training ship, but the year before visiting Weymouth had taken part in the transatlantic Tall Ships Race to celebrate the Bicentenary of the United States Declaration of Independence.
The painting is for sale for £150 – please visit or contact the shop for more details.
