See our hospice
Around a fifth of all the end of life care we provide in Dorset is at our picturesque Inpatient Unit in Dorchester.
The symptoms of Covid-19 (Coronavirus) may be more severe in people with weakened immune systems, older people and those with long term conditions such as diabetes, cancer and chronic lung disease.
At Weldmar Hospicecare, the wellbeing of the people we support, hospice visitors, staff and volunteers is our first priority and that’s why we are following advice and guidance issued by the World Health Organisation and the UK Government.
Take a look around our hospice…
We don’t have any set opening hours. The Inpatient Unit is open for visiting 24 hours a day. Just call into the reception desk when you arrive, or at the side door out of hours.
We have facilities that allow you to stay overnight if you are accompanying a very sick patient. This can be arranged through the sister or senior nurse.
Snacks and light meals
The Inpatient Unit has a visitors’ kitchen and dining room, with a selection of snacks, light meals for purchase and facilities to make hot drinks at any time. The Orangery is our restaurant at the Inpatient Unit and is open to all.
Real flowers are allowed in the hospice.
The same complementary therapies that are offered to our patients are also available for carers. Please see the sister or senior nurse.
Pets are welcome to visit, please seek prior arrangement with the nurse-in-charge.
There is a smoking room available for patients only. No smoking is permitted for visitors in any part of the hospice or grounds. There is a no smoking policy for staff.
