All you need to know about visiting patients at Joseph Weld Hospice, our inpatient unit in Dorchester, Dorset
We don’t have any set opening hours. Joseph Weld Hospice is open for visiting 24 hours a day. Just call into the reception desk when you arrive, or at the side door out of hours.
We have facilities that allow you to stay overnight if you are accompanying a very sick patient. This can be arranged through the sister or senior nurse.
Snacks and light meals
Joseph Weld Hospice has a visitors’ kitchen and dining room, with a selection of snacks, light meals for purchase and facilities to make hot drinks at any time.
Real flowers are allowed in the hospice.
The same complementary therapies that are offered to our patients are also available for carers. Please see the sister or senior nurse.
Pets are allowed and welcomed in the hospice.
There is a smoking room available for patients. We recognise that at a stressful time relatives may also want to use the room but please no more than two people at any one time. No smoking is permitted in any other part of the hospice or grounds. There is a no smoking policy for staff.
