Upwey Open Gardens go virtual for Weldmar
Enjoy the best of the village from the comfort of your own home
Every spring and summer, gardens of all shapes and sizes open their gates to visitors and raise money for Weldmar Hospicecare with our Open Gardens project.
This year, sadly, many of the events have had to be cancelled, but some Open Garden events are going virtual!
Last weekend, villagers in Cattistock shared their beautiful gardens on Facebook, whilst the Upwey Society has created a special website to show off theirs.
Open gardens help raise funds for Weldmar
Normally, Upwey has an annual Open Gardens weekend in June, with many gardens open to the public, refreshments, vintage cars, and more.
So instead the Society has created a special website with photos from 21 gardens through the village so that visitors can take a virtual stroll through them, and are inviting people to make a contribution to Weldmar Hospicecare.
The Society has several hundred members in the village. Mike Davis, Chair of the Society said, “I hope that pictures of the gorgeous gardens in the village will warm a few hearts in these difficult times. We are supporting Weldmar Hospicecare by including the option to contribute direct from the website. I am very grateful to all of those who agreed to include their gardens.”
The virtual open gardens in Upwey will be open for the next few weeks.
