Weldmar accredited as a ‘Disability Confident’ employer
We’re continually working towards improving the recruitment and retention of people with a disability
Weldmar Hospicecare has been accredited with Disability Confident status as an employer.
This means we have committed to:
- Ensuring our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible to all
- Communicating and promoting our vacancies
- Offering interviews to applicants with a disability who meet the minimum criteria for a job
- Anticipating and providing adjustments as necessary for anyone with a disability
- Supporting any existing employee who aquires a disability or long term health condition, enabling them to stay in work
- Providing at least one activity that will make a difference to people with a disability

Lynn Goodchild, Head of People Services at Weldmar Hospicecare (pictured above), says, “This ensures that people applying for jobs at Weldmar can feel confident that we recognise the skills and abilities of the individual and encourage disabled people to apply for vacancies knowing they are supported at every step of the recruitment process. It also shows that if an employee becomes disabled during their working life, through reasonable adjustments, we can help them to fulfil their potential and contribute fully to their teams success. We will be regularly reviewing the criteria so that, in the future, we can progress to Level 2.”
