Weldmar counsellors to offer telephone support after Light Up A Life service
Those watching the service virtually may be alone or isolated and need somebody to talk to
Weldmar Hospicecare will be offering a free telephone support service to supporters following this year’s Light Up A Life service.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, local Light Up A Life services around Dorset will not be going ahead as normal this year, with a virtual service being streamed on YouTube and Facebook instead, at 6:30pm on Tuesday 8th December. The service will be available to watch ‘on demand’ on the Weldmar website afterwards.
The purpose of the service is for the community to remember loved ones that we have lost and who will be missed at Christmas, whether they were cared for by Weldmar or not.
Emma Weston, pictured, is Weldmar’s Counselling and Bereavement Lead, and says, “We recognise that it is an emotional time, and people may need support from one of our team that are trained to listen and offer emotional support. Usually, people might be with other people in the same situation at the service, but this year they may be on their own, watching the virtual service from home, because of this we feel it is important that our team of trained listeners are available to support anyone needing it.”
Details of the number to call will be available nearer the time.
