Weldmar’s Book Club returns for 2020
Join in the discussion about our forthcoming featured books
Weldmar Hospicecare’s Book Club is back with new meeting dates for 2020.
Anyone can drop in to join the discussion on the book chosen that month, with meetings taking place at Weldmar’s Bookshop on South Parade, South Street, Dorchester.
The club will be meeting on the following Wednesdays to talk about these books:
- 11th March – ‘Erebus’ by Michael Palin
- 8th April – ‘Uncommon Type’ by Tom Hanks
- 13th May – ‘The Victory Garden’ by Rhys Bowen
All sessions run from 5:30pm – 7:00pm.
Helen Maisie runs the group, and says, “We are a friendly group who meet in a relaxed atmosphere. It’s a good opportunity to leave your worries outside and escape with us into a good book, meeting like-minded folk, and having a natter and a cuppa.”
As well as the important social aspect, the group can help broaden your reading habits! Weldmar Bookshop manager Rob Mutter says, “As part of the book group, I’ve read books I would never have chosen on my own – and thoroughly enjoyed them. I think exploring beyond your ‘comfort zone’ is one of the joys of a book group like this.”
The Book Club was started last year as a group for loved ones of patients who were using Weldmar’s bereavement services, and expanded for everyone to attend at the bookshop. Everyone is welcome to take part in the Book Club, whether you have a connection to Weldmar or not.
