The Weldmar Bookshop in Dorchester recently moved into much larger premises
The Weldmar Bookshop in Dorchester recently moved into a much larger premises, at 1 South Terrace, South Street, Dorchester, DT1 1DE – and the official opening was carried out by Sue Davies, Vice Chair of Weldmar Hospicecare’s Board of Trustees on Friday 18th November.
Weldmar is an established local charity, based in Dorset, with great expertise in caring for people at the end of life, whether at home, in the hospice or from Wellbeing Services. Weldmar’s care for a patient and their family may just be for a few weeks or months or it could be for two years or more.
Weldmar’s services are free and they only receive a third of their funding from the NHS. This means that their chain of charity shops and outlets provide a vital contribution towards the charity’s running costs.
Valerie Burnham, Weldmar’s Director of Retail Operations, said “We are very excited to have opened our new Bookshop in Dorchester. Our previous location was very popular with shoppers – and we are sure they will enjoy visiting our new, much larger bookshop. We are so very dependent on support from our local residents and community, as shoppers, as donors and, of course, as volunteers. We could not raise the money needed for Weldmar to provide its care without their help. If anyone has the time to spare, we invite you to come in and talk with the manager”.
The Bookshop is now open 9am to 5pm on Monday to Saturday, with all profits going directly to patient care.
