< BACK TO NEWSWeldmar Hospicecare’s Day Services have been extended to an extra day in Weymouth.
The team currently operate the service in a different town in Dorset on each day of the week, starting in Weymouth on a Monday, then onto Dorchester, Bridport, Blandford, and finally Shaftesbury on a Friday.
Now, an additional session is taking place in Weymouth on a Thursday, at Weldmar’s charity headquarters in Cromwell Road.
Pictured above are Ruth, Derek, and Margaret, who have all attended the first session.
“We’ve been chatting for most of today – mostly about dogs!”, says Ruth. “It’s been really nice to meet and interact with each other.”
Margaret, who took advantage of the colouring pens to do some crafts, added, “It’s been very good. I’ve been picked up and brought along, and I’ve really enjoyed it. Very good.”
Derek says it’s given him the opportunity to be sociable. “I’m at home alone, so it’s nice to get out of the house, see everyone and chat. People don’t realise that when you’re at home, you don’t talk. It’s nice to talk to people.”
Weldmar’s Day Services offer people lots of stimulating activities, including creative arts, Jam Che, word games and more – find out more here.
A subsidised lunch is also available – the ladies enjoyed sausage casserole for lunch, with Derek having a chicken pie, and syrup sponge was served up for pud.
