Weldmar’s Indian Himalayas trek postponed to 2021 … and you can sign up
Our Overseas Challenge will now take place in October 2021
Weldmar Hospicecare’s Overseas Challenge for 2020 has been postponed by a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This means there is another chance to sign up and join the existing group of local people who have already pledged to take part.
The Overseas Challenge is an annual event, with teams of Weldmar supporters taking on challenging treks in places like Iceland, the Sahara Desert, Nepal, the Borneo Jungle, and Canadian Rockies.
Alaine Harman is Weldmar’s Running and Challenges Fundraiser, and says, “We have postponed our Indian Himalayas Trek to October 2021 – although a long way away it was the best decision to make based on the safety of our participants. We want all participants to have the best experience on this ‘once in a lifetime’ trek, and it would just not be the same with current restrictions.”
The delay of twelve months is because weather conditions are best for the trek in October. Alaine explains there are further benefits to such a long postponement: “It gives the group the chance to get to know each other better, as we’ll arrange a number of group training walks before setting off. It will also give anyone who signs up more time for fundraising. Both training and fundraising would have been really difficult over the last few months.”
