Weldmar Hospicecare is a non-profit-making Charitable Company managed by an Executive Management Team but governed by a Board of non-executive Trustees.
The Charity now seeks to appoint additional Trustees to refresh and strengthen the existing Board. Weldmar Hospicecare provides outstanding end of life care throughout north, west and south Dorset.
This care is given in the comfort of patients own homes, via our Day Services across the county or as in patients at Joseph Weld Hospice in Dorchester. We work with families, supporting them in their caring roles and helping them with bereavement.
Last year Weldmar Hospicecare supported over 2,500 people who received care provided completely free of charge. Last year this work cost over £8million. 25% of our funding is from the local NHS but is mainly funded by the continued support of our local community via our fundraising events and activities, chain of retail sites and legacies, raising over £6M each and every year.
Applications are sought from people living in Dorset with one or more of the following qualities:
- Experience of serving on a Board, corporate or voluntary
- The time to attend meetings and support charitable activities
- Ability and enthusiasm for promoting the interests of Weldmar Hospicecare
- Good all round experience of life. A specialist skill in legal and /or audit, would be useful but not essential
The role is unpaid but out of pocket expenses may be claimed. Successful applicants will be subject to a DBS check (Disclosure & Barring Service).
